Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Swedish: Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet, SLU) is a world-class international university with research, education and environmental assessment within the sciences for sustainable life. SLU develops the understanding and sustainable use and management of biological natural resources. This is achieved by research, education and environmental monitoring and assessment, in collaboration with the surrounding community.
SLU creates and integrates knowledge about agricultural sciences and related fields combining scientific excellence with competence in application-oriented issues. SLU has a unique profile in Sweden, with responsibilities that are strategically important for society at both national and international levels, notably within the areas of globalization, urbanization, migration, sustainability and climate change. Its principal sites are in Alnarp, Umeå and Uppsala, but activities are also conducted at research stations, experimental parks and educational establishments throughout Sweden. SLU brings together people who have different perspectives, but they all have one and the same goal: to create the best conditions for a sustainable, thriving and better world.
