SDGs, Food Security and Tenure Rights: Taking stock of progress and mapping future contributions from development actors
The Land Portal Foundation and the Global Land Tool Network (GLTN) to invite you to our side event at the 44th Committee on Food Security (CFS) on Thursday, 12 October, 8:30AM - 10:00am, Iraq Room Bldg A/B Flr 2, FAO Headquarters, Rome.
Numerous indicators of the
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) relate to tenure rights, food security and nutrition, including
1.4.2 on perceptions of land tenure security,
2.4.1 relating to the proportion of agricultural area under productive and sustainable agriculture and
5.a.1 on women's ownership of agricultural land.
This event will bring together key actors in the land governance community and beyond who are making significant efforts to make the link between food security and nutrition and sustainable development. It will provide an opportunity for discussion of the initiatives currently underway to monitor and amplify efforts focused on achieving land-related SDGs in the 2030 Agenda through research, advocacy and communications, such as the Global Land Indicators Initiative, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the Land Portal, Prindex and other relevant initiatives, and how this will contribute to improving nutrition and increasing food security.

This side event will include a brief keynote speech, followed by lightning talks, a maximum of three minutes, from each of the five panellsts. The remainder of the time will be dedicated to an interactive discussion with the audience, using a town hall approach, which is moderated by the facilitator.
