Human Rights Officer (TJO)

This post is found in the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Section at the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). The Human Rights Officer reports to the Chief of the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Section.

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science, economics, international relations, social sciences or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in human rights in general, economic, social and cultural rights, or closely related area is required. Experience working on the right to food and related economic, social, and cultural rights, such as health, water and land, is required. Experience in legislative review, economic and social policy advice, research, advocacy, capacity building, and constituency building related to the right to food is desirable. Experience working with the United Nations or in similar settings at the country and international levels is desirable.
